6/202012 Meeting Minutes
Call to order:~ Meeting called to order @ 7:08 pm
Roll Call: E. Brand, K Demers, M. Drobney, C. Jordan, M. Schreiber. On a motion by CJ/MD, E Brand is seated for PA.
Approval of 5/16/12 minutes: Minutes approved on a motion by CJ/MD, 4 ayes, 1 abstain, E. Brand
Present to speak: NA.
Finance: The balance on FY 11/12 budget is $486.23.
On a motion by MD/EB : The WCC will provide a stipend of $75.00 to Barbara Austin for preparing for leading the CFPA Walk on the Talmadge Tract and Knowlton Preserve. So moved. Unanimous vote.
On a motion by CJ/MD: The WCC will reimburse K Demers for $5/95 for postage. So moved. Unanimous vote
Old Business
FRP-DS:
- Trails Report: The WCC appreciates the work that was done by several local Boy Scouts under the direction of Al Eichorn. Their work in particular on Julia’s Trail is well received. Thanks to the BSA.
- New benches & picnic table: On a motion by CJ/EB: The WCC approves the purchase of lumber and hardware for completing the park bench and picnic table project @ FRP-DS. Unanimous vote. M.Drobney is in charge of the project.
Knowlton Preserve and Talmadge Tract:
- Connwood Management Plan: At a Town Meeting, funds were appropriated for a contract with Connwood Foresters Inc to create an inventory and management plan for the Knowlton Preserve and Talmadge Tract properties. 12/30/2012 is the completion date for the plan
Other: MS will walk the Roaring Brook Trail to ensure that the area is in good repair.
Town Development: no news
Collaborative Organizations
- Willimantic River Alliance: The Willimantic River Water Trail has been designated a Nation Recreation Trail by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.
- Joshua’s Trust:no news.
- Windham County Conservation Consortium: no news.
Programs
- The CF&PA Trails Day walk on the Knowlton Preserve and Talmadge Tract properties took place on the raindate of 6/3/12. 6 people attended.
New Business
- The “State of the Town” is 6/27/12 and WCC is encouraged to attend.
- K Demers asks that the Daley Award & Park Day be added to the agenda.
